Guide to becoming a verified person on BorrowHive

This article explains BorrowHive product behavior. It is not legal or tax advice, and it is not a safety guarantee.

BorrowHive may require verified-person status before members can send, approve, or fulfill tool borrowing requests. This check helps confirm that a real person matches a government ID before a local pickup or return creates trust and safety risk.

During the free-first launch, verified-person review is still part of BorrowHive trust posture. It does not mean BorrowHive is collecting renter charges, deposits, sales tax, or owner payouts for default free requests.

BorrowHive uses a secure identity verification partner for the launch flow. The verification page may ask for consent, camera access, a government ID, and a selfie before returning you to BorrowHive.

What you will do

Most sessions finish quickly, but some need extra processing or manual support review. BorrowHive may show pending, action required, rejected, expired, or manual review until the issue is resolved.

What BorrowHive Stores

BorrowHive stores verification status, dates, and support review notes needed to run the service safely. Raw ID images, selfies, full document numbers, and biometric details should not be sent through ordinary BorrowHive support channels.

Do not send ID photos, selfies, or full document numbers through normal support forms, email, chat, or messages. Support may ask you to restart the verification flow or may route a case through a reviewed manual process.

For help, contact support from the BorrowHive app or email support@borrowhive.com without attaching sensitive identity images. BorrowHive privacy and terms pages explain how identity verification fits into Free First borrowing and how payment or payout services may be used later for Plus paid rentals.

What Verification Does Not Mean

Verified-person status is not a background check, not a credit check, not an address guarantee, not a guarantee of safe behavior, and not a BorrowHive endorsement. It is also separate from asset-label mailer verification, address checks, payout onboarding, and verified inventory signals.

If a handoff problem needs support review, BorrowHive may ask you to bring the same ID to pickup or return so the issue can be resolved without exposing unnecessary identity details in the app.
