Free First bookings in unsupported pickup areas

BorrowHive is available for Free First neighbor borrowing while paid rental support is enabled location by location. When the pickup or possession area is not ready for paid rentals, BorrowHive applies the Free First launch promotion or waiver so the booking is $0 today.
Owners may still set rental prices and deposit amounts for future paid rentals. Those amounts are saved on the listing, but they are not charged to borrowers, held as deposits, paid out to owners, or used for tax collection in unsupported pickup areas until BorrowHive enables paid support for that area.
What members should expect
- Borrowers can request and coordinate eligible Free First pickups for $0 when the booking is covered by the launch promotion or waiver.
- Owners can keep their rates, deposits, availability, pickup hours, maintenance notes, photos, and condition details ready for future Plus.
- BorrowHive does not charge the borrower, place a deposit hold, or send an owner payout for a Free First booking.
- Free First bookings remain available at $0 in unsupported pickup areas. If a booking would require payment, BorrowHive stops checkout rather than guessing whether paid rental support is available.
- Free First is not permission to arrange off-platform paid rentals.
What the app should explain
When a Free First booking is allowed in an unsupported paid area, BorrowHive should tell the member that the booking is free today because paid support is not enabled for the pickup or possession area. The message should also explain that pickup and return stay free for that booking, and that owner-set prices and deposits are saved for future Plus rentals.
When paid support is enabled
When BorrowHive enables paid support for a possession area and a member is eligible for Plus, saved owner prices and deposits may apply to future paid rentals. At that point BorrowHive may require a payment method, deposit approval, tax review, payout setup, and any Plus-specific onboarding that applies in that area.
