Why unsupported pickup areas remain Free First

This article explains BorrowHive product behavior. It is not legal or tax advice.

BorrowHive keeps unsupported pickup and possession areas in Free First mode when the location is not ready for paid rental support. Neighbors can still use BorrowHive for $0 borrowing when product and trust policy allow it. Paid checkout stays off until BorrowHive is ready to support payments, tax handling, owner questions, refunds, and required records in that location.

The mobile app may still be available in the United States even when paid checkout is not enabled for a particular state. BorrowHive decides paid support from the verified pickup or delivery location, not from App Store or Google Play availability. Free First borrowing remains $0 under the launch promotion or waiver and may still require verified-person review for trust.

For more about the Free First member notice, see Free First bookings in unsupported pickup areas.

Common reasons include:

Owners may still draft and publish Free First listings while BorrowHive reviews tax coverage, subject to verified-person and trust-safety gates. They can set rental prices and deposit amounts now, but those amounts are not charged, held, or paid out in unsupported areas until Plus paid support is enabled. Do not move a pickup or delivery location to avoid paid-checkout controls, and do not use Free First requests to arrange off-platform paid rentals.
